The International Workshop on "Sustainable Handling of Innovative Membrane Technologies for Environmental Protections (SHINE)" was successfully held from 22–25 September 2025 at Universität Hamburg, Germany. It was jointly organized by Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, Hamburg, and the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. This prestigious workshop is supported by the Indo-German Science & Technology Centre. SHINE aims to bring together leading researchers, experts, technologists, industries and start-ups from India and Germany to discuss recent innovations, sustainable approaches, policies and translational research in membrane technologies for environmental protection.

The event brought together academicians, scientists, industry leaders, and start-ups for knowledge exchange, research collaboration, and technical visits to the Institute of Membrane Research and the Hamburg Water Treatment Plant. We were also honored by the presence of Mr. Pawan Devrani, Vice Consulate General of India, Hamburg, whose words of encouragement further strengthened Indo-German collaboration.
SHINE 2025 has provided a strong platform to advance sustainable membrane technologies and build global partnerships for environmental protection.

A diverse audience ranging from high schoolers to PhD scholars participated enthusiastically. The energy and curiosity of the school students were especially inspiring – a promising glimpse into the future of science!

It was a great honor for me to participate in the International Engineering Sourcing Show (IESS) exhibition (16-18 March) in Chennai.
Joint Secretary, Director of Indo-German Science and Technology Centre, Mr. Jeevan Reddy (Associate Director, AECOM), many other govt agencies, international delegates, and industries visited us and showed great interest in our recently developed products, waste to resource concept, and willing to extend further association. It was a wonderful experience to interact with more than 300+ visitors, 100+ industrial representatives in three days.
