Advanced Membrane Horizon (MemH) Pvt. Ltd.
Dr. Bhaskar Jyoti Deka’s research group, the Advanced Membrane Research Laboratory (AMRL), focuses on the design and development of functionalized and adsorptive membranes, as well as the synthesis of novel adsorbent materials for water/wastewater treatment and desalination.
The AMRL group develops advanced strategies for functionalizing polymeric membranes, including thin-film composite membranes, to enhance separation selectivity and antifouling performance. In parallel, the group synthesizes a diverse range of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and integrates them into membrane architectures to create MOF- and COF-functionalized membranes for the selective removal of emerging contaminants, such as PFAS and micro- and nanoplastics, from complex water matrices.
Overall, the AMRL group aims to advance next-generation membrane technologies that address pressing environmental and wastewater treatment challenges through improved performance, durability, and selectivity. In addition, the group is exploring alternative approaches for brine remediation and resource recovery in scenarios where conventional membrane processes are ineffective or impractical.
