1. The International Workshop on "Fostering Deep Membrane Science Research for Desalination, Brine Reclamation, and Resource Extraction (MemSci-Brine)" successfully concluded on December 6th in the presence of esteemed dignitaries, faculty members, researchers, participants, and students. The event was organized by the Department of Hydrology in collaboration with the Centre for Nanotechnology at IIT Roorkee, India, and co-hosted by the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) as a partner institute.
Over the three-day workshop, distinguished speakers delivered engaging and insightful talks covering all thematic areas of the event. The program also included brainstorming sessions involving representatives from industry, research institutions, startups, and academia.
🎉 A proud highlight of the inaugural session was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India, and Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, Germany, to strengthen collaboration in cutting-edge membrane science research.

It is my great pleasure to share that my PhD student (Gaurav Vaghela) has been awarded with distinguished "Award for Asian Young Professional on Water Research", "Excellent Abstract Award", along with "International Travel Support" at 13th International Symposium on Southeast Asian Water Environment (SEAWE-13). This symposium was organized by Research Center for Water Environment Technology (RECWET), the University of Tokyo (UTokyo, Japan), Southeast Asian Center for Water Environment Technology (SACWET), Asian Institute of Technology (AIT, Thailand), in cooperation with National Institute for Environmental Studies, Japan (NIES, Japan).

7. It was a great honor for me to participate in the International Engineering Sourcing Show (IESS) exhibition (16-18 March) in Chennai.
Joint Secretary, Director of Indo-German Science and Technology Centre, Mr. Jeevan Reddy (Associate Director, AECOM), many other govt agencies, international delegates, and industries visited us and showed great interest in our recently developed products, waste to resource concept, and willing to extend further association. It was a wonderful experience to interact with more than 300+ visitors, 100+ industrial representatives in three days.
8. Recently online ITEC course on "Emerging Technologies for Water/wastewater Treatment" was successfully conducted by the Department of Hydrology, IIT Roorkee & Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC), Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India. Prof. Apurbba Kumar Sharma, Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof. P. Arumugam, Dean of International Relations, Prof B. K. Yadav, Head of Hydrology, Prof. Himanshu Joshi, Hydrology Department, and faculty colleagues graced the inaugural & valedictory session. The training course was jointly coordinated by Prof. Himanshu Joshi and me. Thankful to all the key speakers for delivering expert talks, also to all faculty colleagues from own/other departments for all time support as well as our student volunteers Suraj Gudale, Mohd Sahil, SHUBHAM KETAN SHARMA, Gaurav Vaghela, and others for conducting the sessions smoothly.
The international participants (from the industry as well as academic & research organizations) joined the course from different parts of the globe. Together, we completed a great journey of knowledge exchange, discussed water-related issues and their possible scientific remediation. Further, delighted to see the participant's interest in advanced membrane technologies and their applications.
Aim of the training course: Understanding about different emerging treatment technologies including desalination and their application to address current and future water scarcity.
